Package: kmail
Version: 1.2 (using KDE 2.2.0 Alpha1)
Severity: normal
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 19991030 (prerelease)
OS: Linux (i586) release 2.2.17-21mdk
OS/Compiler notes:
In kmail 1.2.1 as supplied in kde2.2alpha I find that kmail will "pretend" to send \
emails however they dont appear to be sending. They do appear in sent-mail however. \
The SMTP is my ISP. I tried with kmail 1.2 (from kde2.1.1) under kde2.2alpha and it \
works fine. I noticed it was linking to its old libraries so I renamed the dir and \
checked to make sure 1.2 was linking with the kde2.2a libs and it is and sends OK. I \
noticed that when sending the dialog box in kmail 1.2 says things like, HELO,RCPT etc \
or somesuch but these messages do not appear with 1.2.1 the box just disappears after \
a few seconds AND the modem DOES APPEAR to be sending something.
To further complicate matters, I sent a test message to a local (Sydney) recipient \
and he received the message, but replies to posts at the kde-lists do not get \
through.I am fairly confident that I am not getting confused and/or having library \
mixups with that one.
I am looking further into this and will use kmail 1.2 in the meantime. I asked on the \
list and the only other person with 2.2alpha said theirs was fine but I am not \
confident of their ability to have 2.2alpha and 2.1.1 on the same system and actually \
know what he was really running :-)
Keep up the good work.
