No, KMail has not. However some pop server change the status when mails are 
fetched.
However KMail remembers, which mails it has already downloaded by using the 
UID of the mail. This information is stored in ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/.

Then most likely your server or the software you use for deleting the mails 
changes the UID of every mail for some reason I don't understand. At least 
with my server that works without any problem.

As long you dont examine that more closely yourself, I can't help.

There is also the LAST command to check which mail was downloaded last, but 
that doesn't work properly on some servers and leads to trouble, if you leave 
the mails on the server on more than one mail client.
