Sorry I can't reproduce that. It works correctely here. If I check it sticky, 
then the last used server is used again, otherwise the one from the configure 
dialog.

That is not a KMail problem. The SMTP server you chose simply rejects to send 
your mails. Probably because you dial in via a different provider.

You should upgrade to KDE 2.0.1.

Depends on the speed of your network and the speed of your CPU. KMail does 
also some other things with the downloaded mails.
At least with a modem connection nearly the whole bandwith should be used.
