Why not?  Isn't this an obvious feature that should be implemented.  It 
confuses the user, if he isn't able to collapse/open a thread there shouldn't 
be minus(/plus) at the beginning.  There should just be a line to the the 
other mails.  Minus/plus suggests to the user that he CAN collapse and open a 
thread as he feels like.
