It's unreasonable to expect an average user to do this. In addition, 
you CANNOT edit messages that are anywhere but the outbox. ("Sorry, 
only messages in the outbox can be edited.").

Instead, what's really needed is a "Drafts" folder, or something with 
similar functionality. If you want to postpone a message it would go 
there. If you try to edit a message in the outbox, it would go there. 

That's a better solution than editing inplace in the outbox.
