Restarting Kmail doesn't help with the bug where the search by default the 
wrong folder.  Though I have narrowed it down to this:

When you have multiple folders of the same name, and try to search one, it 
*always* tries to search the *last* folder by that name.  It should search 
the selected folder.

I really don't know since I can't reproduce this:

Though when it did happen, restarting kmail is what fixed it, so I'll take 
your word for it.  I'll see if I can reproduce the problem later...
