  The message preparing to load appears, and then nothing happens. No
kdebug output either (I've run it with --nofork).

  It is on nfs, I don't know if it supports locking or not. The existing
mails are opened, so I assume it managed to open those (I don't know if
it locks them or not).

  I am forwarding this to our sysadmin. Ed, do you know if the .mbox files
are permanently locked by qmail or just when it writes something? Or some
idea what can be the fault?
