Yeah, that's a known problem. Upgrade your qt, it won't get back your entries (you would need to have backed up ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/addressbook for that). It might be time to consider using one of the other address books that is integrated with kmail look in the appearance->addressbook part of the configuration dialog.
