I can confirm that this is happening and is the reason I cannot use KMAIL as a mail \
client.  This happens both at work, where we use an Exchange server running IMAP and \
at home, where I run a Cyrus IMAP server.  In both cases, Kmail causes messages to be \
duplicated or in some cases screws up the dates of the mail, causing sorting by date \
to no longer work (even when opened in Thunderbird).

This problem happens almost every time I even open Kmail.

This is with Kmail version 1.9.6 running OpenSuSE 10.2 on x86_64 on two systems, and \
Solaris 2.8 on another system (KDE 3.5.6).  This problem happens with all systems.  \
As far as I'm concerned, it corrupts the mailboxes with all these duplicate emails \
and causes DATA CORRUPTION as far as I'm concerned. \
