I tried creating a persistent search folder, which worked, but was too heavy on the system resources. I also ran into an issue dragging email to the todo icon in kontact. After a while the attachment on the todo doesn't work any more, and it's difficult to find the message again. I've filed a bug on that as well, hoping to see it fixed soon. It makes sense, when a message is marked todo, to show up in the todo list.
