Summary: Kontact crashes when system tray clicked
Product: kmail
Version: 1.9.5
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kmail-devel kde org
ReportedBy: NewsAssi Gmx net
Version: 1.9.5 (using KDE 3.5.5, Kubuntu (dapper) 4:3.5.5-0ubuntu1~dapper2)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.15-26-386
How to reproduce:
1. Start Kontact
2. Make sure system tray icon is enabled in
Configure Kontact -> Appearance -> System Tray
x Enable system tray icon
System Tray Mode:
x Always show Kmail in system tray
o Only show Kmail in system tray if there are unread messages
(The bug happens in both System Tray Modes, but it does not need a new mail to \
demonstrate with this setting)
3. Click on the system tray kmail icon:
a) Kontact crashes from the taskbar
b) if Kontact was on the screen, it crashs too
4. Click again on the system tray kmail icon:
a) Kontact reappears on the taskbar
b) Kontact appears on the screen
(Same with RSS)
Before you say, there a duplicates... Please let me explain:
Bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95297 was called a duplicate of \
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99827
That is correct...
BUT http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99827 was called a duplicate of \
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96715
But that is not true! http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95297 or \
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99827 describe (like this bug) another bug than \
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96715 !
The first two describe a crashing of Kontact, but the last describe a duplication of \
icons... that is not the same...
So I start here a new bug, describing the deferences and hope, it will be not called \
a duplicate...
Thanks a lot!
