 Martin Koller: Well then probably another bug report "corrupted or out of date index \
files should be rebuilt automatically" should be opened. I know that for example the \
AmigaOS mail client YAM (http://www.yam.ch) actually rebuilds index files when they \
are out of date (I think it checks whether the modification date of the folder \
directory is newer than that of the index file, but I am not sure). It probably makes \
sense to split this bug report in several smaller ones...

I can open such a bug report but I first would like to get some feedback whether it \
