want to the normal Enter Key [Enter] and click ok - this will prompt to \
remove the shortcut for Enter to open message in new window, then you can \
re-assign it to KP_Enter (on the key pad (number pad).

I am not sure where the shortcut is assigned to the normal Enter key, but \
this does reset the behaviour

Perhaps the real bug is that the shortcut Enter effects they KP_Enter too, \
and is not overridden when KP_Enter is assigned to something else.
