My version (1.9.1/KDE 3.5.2/Debian Sid package) is slowing down (or \
freezing) too for a few seconds if anything changes in one of my mailbox \
(inbox, trash, ...). This problem exists for me since I startet using \
kmail. It appears on:
1. new incoming mail with a high speed connection, not a 56k modem
2. selecting a new mail (marking it as "read")
3. moving mail to another folder (trash as well).
So on every action in mailbox the UI freezes for a few seconds.

Since I installed spamassassin kmail furthermore seems to crash from time \
to time on one of those actions. I retraced it on moving mail to trash. The \
CPU usage grows to 100% and the UI doesn't respond. After one or two \
minutes I killed the prozess. Every time this happened, I used to move \
several mails to trash in a row so it might be a problem with too many \
changes in mailbox in a too short time.
