This bug is not resolved.  I just had the exact same issue with kmail 1.9.1 running \
on FC3 with KDE 3.5.1.  I performed the lsof|grep described above in comment #22 and \
deleted the "corrupt" .ids file. I'm back to running, but this must be fixed. \
