Summary: Allow remote files for custom folder icons Product: kmail \
Version: unspecified Platform: SuSE RPMs OS/Version: Linux \
Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR \
Component: general AssignedTo: kmail-devel kde org ReportedBy: \
psychonaut nothingisreal com
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1)Installed from: SuSE RPMs
KMail will not allow the user to select a remote file for a custom folder icon. \
However, I can't think of any good reason for this restriction. Other KDE \
applications, such as amaroK, allow the user to select remote files for album \
thumbnails. Why can't KMail just fetch the remote file, resize it, and store it in a \
local cache? Or is this perhaps a limitation of the icon selector component? If the \
latter, this bug should be moved to the appropriate application (kfile component of \
kio, perhaps?). To reproduce:1. Right-click on a folder2. Click on "Properties". \
Properties dialog pops up.3. Check "Use customs icon" box.4. Click on the "Normal" or \
"Unread" icon button. "Select Icon" dialog pops up.5. Click the "Other icons" radio \
button.6. Click "Browse…". Open dialog pops up.7. In the "Location" input field, \
enter a remote URL, such as <http://bugs.kde.org/img/konqi.gif>8. Click "Open". The \
following error dialog pops up: Remote Files Not Accepted - KMail
[!] You can only select local files.
