Personally, I would take this one step further and some method of sorting on or \
searching out emails marked as "To-Do" in the entire mail folder hierarchy.
I am a user who prefers *not* to use Kontact and I run KMail directly. As the OP has \
pointed out, currently the only way to mark these messages in a *useful* way is to \
mark them unread. I employ a very extensive folder list for whitelist filtering and \
I quickly lose track of "To-Do" messages unless I remember to mark them unread.
I suggest:
(1) adding, as an option, a column in the folder tree to indicate the presence of \
outstanding /special/ items (such as "To-Do", Important, etc.)
(2) When selecting the root folder ("Local Folders"), instead of presenting an ad \
page for KMail (this info belongs in the "About" dialog, IMO), all mails should be \
displayed in a global pool (see Akregator behaviour). Then, providing a "Status" \
quickfilter/dropdown as is available in a regular mail folder would permit a quick \
way to isolate such /specially marked/ email messages. \
