Summary: Annoying "Lost connection to <imapserver>" dialog boxes
           Product: kmail
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: SuSE RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kmail-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: krienke uni-koblenz de

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.3)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I use kmail to read my everyday mail. I get my mail from 3 different imap servers via \
a DSL connection. The DSL connection is reset each 24h by the provider and each time \
this happens kmail after some minutes displays three error dialog boxes saying that \
the connection to imapserver foo was lost. Because I have three imap servers defined \
in kmails setup I alwyas get three dialog boxes on the screen which I have to \
acknowledge in a particular order (probably in the order in which they appeared). \
This happens when kmail is simply running eg over night without user interaction and \
in the early morning the dsl connection is reset by the provider. The imap connection \
are set up as "disconneted imap" already.

These boxes are really annoying since they have no use in this situation because its \
relly clear that the connection is lost and its also clear that 1-3 minutes later \
the connection is back again. So it would be nice if kmail would check after a while \
if the connection is back again and avoid the error-dialog completely or if the error \
message was only display somewhere else (perhaps a error bar like the mailfetch \
progress bar in the lower right side of the window) but not in dialog boxes that have \
to be acknowleged manually box by box.

The very same thing happens when I query the very same imap servers one time from \
home and the next time from my office (using the same kmail setup). So at this time \
there are two kmail processes running on different hosts that are configured to query \
the same imap servers (both using disconnected imap) but they are not configured to \
do this eg every 10 minutes but only manually. But never the less I always get a \
"connection lost" dialog box on one host if I retrieve my mail from the other one. By \
the way: Using mozilla or thunderbird this does not happen. \
