KMail keeps the selected message visible in the preview pane. We could consider that \
as a minor bug. Feel free to file a separate report with an appropriate subject.

It depends on your workflow. I prefer the current behavior which resets the quick \
search bar on a folder change. I would not like to have to reset it manually in most \
cases. A configurability (sticky option for folder change) would be a solution. If \
you're looking for folder specific searches preserved even on restarts, you should \
better use search folders (AKA virtual folders).
I change this report to reflect the wish for a sticky option.
