Summary: kmail using sendmail: can the use of sendmail -f flag be
made optional to avoid Authentication Warning?
Product: kmail
Version: 1.8.1
Platform: NetBSD pkgsrc
OS/Version: NetBSD
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kmail-devel kde org
ReportedBy: ghen telenet be
Version: 1.8.1 (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: NetBSD pkgsrc
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (NetBSD nb3 20040520)
OS: NetBSD
When kmail uses sendmail to send e-mails, it calls sendmail with the -f $SENDER flag, \
to set the envelope sender to $SENDER. This was requested in bug #50674, to make \
kmail able to send e-mails out of the box, without having to configure sendmail (or \
any MTA) to set return adressess correctly (using e.g. genericstable). But this has \
the side-effect that sendmail gives an authentication warning, and generates an \
X-Authentication-Warning header for untrusted (non-root) users. This is especially \
undesirable if you actually did setup sendmail to rewrite the headers correctly. So, \
could this -f flag be made an option to kmail? \
