It's not related AFAIK. It may depend on your settings for your IMAP account 
(e.g. load on demand enabled?). Anyway, it should be fixed in KDE 3.4, at 
least I haven't got such a crash for a long time when using KMail from CVS 
(with online IMAP - this report is a bout disconnected IMAP though).
