The recipient can only receive Inline GPG messages. This is correctly configured in the address book. My identy is configured to prefer OpenPGP/MIME.
When I compose an e-mail the encryption method is set to OpenPGP/MIME which is okay, since I haven't yet specified the recipient.
But when I want to send the mail in encrypted form, the composer doesn't warn about conflicting settings, it simply closes the window and the whole message is lost.
This is somewhat similar to Bug 90480 where another (perhaps related) misbehaviour is reported when there's a conflicting setting for the encryption method.
