There seems to be a bug in KWallet that prevents KMail from seeing newly generated entries (see the corresponding thread on kmail-devel for details). This might seem as if KMail has forgotten all your passwords although they are still stored in the wallet. As a workaround you can close the wallet manually (eg. with kwalletmanager) and restart KMail.
