Summary: Search function fails to successfully find matching From
field entries
Product: kmail
Version: unspecified
Platform: Debian testing
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kmail-devel kde org
ReportedBy: jedd progsoc org
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
Howdi,
I created a new identity with a name Sebastian, and email address of sebastian <my \
domain>. I sent an email with a BCC to another address, which an existing filter \
caught on sending .. and filed into a local folder.
Doing a Find-messages in all local folders, where 'From' contains 'sebastian' failed \
to locate the message. Doing a search on the To field containing a part of the \
destination address, worked fine. Doing a search on '<any header>' contains \
'sebastian' worked fine also.
Unlike bug #78941 there doesn't seem to be a tab-issue here. All mail was sent and \
pulled in with the same kmail/fetchmail combo. Cranking up vi on the relevant \
folder, shows no sign of any embedded tab characters. It all looks quite normal.
I'd suggest this bug is a superset of the one that 78941 refers.
I suspect that it's not limited to specific From fields either -- just with a 5-year \
old mail collection around sitting pretty at 600mb .. it's a bit tricky to do \
searches on anything other than trial account names. ;) \
