Summary: Mails keep coming back as unread
           Product: kmail
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Slackware Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kmail-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: dick kniep nl

Version: Daily snapshot (using KDE KDE 3.2.1)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
Compiler: gcc 3.2.3
OS: Linux

I have seen several bugs all marked as resolved or closed, referring to this problem. \
I do not know what method is used to distinguish read from unread messages. However, \
in my case some messages keep coming back as unread, and I don't understand why. The \
problem only occurs with maps coming from the POP server. OK here is the exact setup:

My local machine (client) logs on with NIS to a server. Home directory is on the \
server, mounted via NFS. Kmail gets messages from 2 servers; a Kolab server via VPN. \
defined as disconnected Imap, and from another mailserver on the LAN, from this \
server messages are retrieved via POP and stored locally (but here locally means in \
my home directory which is on the server mounted with NFS).

I have seen some bugs that mention that problems with time synchronisation between \
clients and server cause this kind of behaviour. This could be my problem too, but I \
am not sure. I will experiment with this and add my findings to this bug.
