server pop.hotpop.com
user sanders2 hotpop com
pass cm813plus

Sent 5 mails to that account and only one has turned up so far, so I 
don't trust hotpop. Have you tried a different mail client?

Regarding kbiff. I wouldn't trust kbiff or any biff based application, 
because if the mail client is running at the same time as biff, and 
checks mail then biff can produce incorrect results.
