That you can send after receiving mail but not if you didn't check for new mail \
indicates that your provider uses the so called SMTP-after-POP authentication. So you \
should use "Send Later" as "Default send method" and you should enable "Send messages \
in outbox folder on check". Then KMail will automatically send all pending messages \
when you check for new mail.

The only change between KDE 3.1 and KDE 3.2 is that KMail now complains if you \
enabled authentication although the server doesn't support authentication.

I've just verified that the SMTP server of skymails.net (guessed from your email \
address) doesn't support authentication.
