@Andreas: Can you probably ask the system administrator to have a look at the server \
logs? I'd like to know why the server gives the error message "unimplemented \
(#5.5.1)". This seems to indicate that KMail sends a command that the SMTP server \
doesn't understand. Did you try the [Check what the server supports] button? A \
temporary test account on the server could be useful. Incidentally I'm working at the \

FWIW, CRAM-MD5 is known to be broken. But all other authentication methods should \
