Summary: Please select encoding from the language settings when
                    inserting a textfile into email
           Product: kmail
           Version: 1.5
          Platform: RedHat RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kmail-devel@kde.org
        ReportedBy: john@chattanooga.net

Version: 1.5 (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux

When inserting a textfile into KMail, the default encoding is "Unicode (UTF-8)" which \
then causes an error when the textfile is either US-ASCII or "Western European \
(ISO-8859-1)" KMail complains something about "not all the text fits into the \
selected encoding" and keeps complaining about it. It would be NICE if one could \
select the "default encoding" one time and KMail (or all of KDE) would remember it, \
or if KDE (and KMail) would take the default encoding from the language settings in \
KDE. For example, I'm using US English. Why can't KDE/KMail auto-select "iso-8859-1" \
or "us-ascii" (I don't think US-ASCII is an option in this case, although it would \
really be nice!) I do a lot of file inserts and it's really a pain to get that alert \
and to have to cancel and re-do the attach! \
