As this seems to happen during filtering it's possible that this is caused by a \
regular expression. Do you use regular expression in some filters?

The next time KMail hangs please kill it with 'killall -6 kmail' and provide the \
backtrace you get. It would help a lot if you would compile kmail with full debug \
information (use --enable-debug=full with configure). \
