I suppose I should have said this:

The reason I asked you to test was that Steffen Hansen did some benchmarking where he \
removed that NOOP, and it had no effects whatsoever. That was with a not too loaded \
cyrus imapd. He did, however, come up with some other speed improvements, and these \
are now in cvs HEAD.

I won't close this bug, but speed is not too important for me. Of course, there is a \
line somewhere between slow and unusable, and I don't want to be on the wrong side of \
that.

I hope you can find the current KMail to behave a bit better.
