Summary: Reply to Mailing-List behaviour when a mailinglist is
                    sent to another mailinglist
           Product: kmail
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kmail@kde.org
        ReportedBy: rlaban@ism.nl

Version: 1.5.9 (using KDE KDE 3.1.91)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package
OS: Linux

Here at work we have the debian security announce mailinglist (and others) sent to an \
internal mailinglist. It's then up to the unix administrators to respond to these \
messages stating if the mentioned security issue applies to us. With the change in \
KMail CVS concerning the Reply to Mailing-List feature I ran into the following: With \
my previous KMail (version 1.5.4 from KDE 3.1.4 and earlier) I could just hit 'L' and \
the reply would get sent to the internal mailinglist only, which is exactly what i \
want. However, since I used Orth's debian packages to uprade to KDE/KMail CVS (3.1.91 \
CVS >= 20030907), this is no longer the case. When I hit 'L' now, the mail gets \
replied to the 'original' (usualy the debian security announce mailinglist) \
mailinglist and the sender of the mail. This behaviour is almost identical to Reply \
to All, except that with 'L' the 2 destination addresses are in the To: field, \
whereas with Reply to All they get spread over the To: (the list) and CC: (the \
sender). I'd say that when using Reply to Mailing-List and there are traces of \
multiple mailinglists the behaviour should be one of the following:
- reply to 'latest' mailinglist, this being the mailinglist where the user actually \
                receives it from
- reply to all mailinglists, the user can then remove any unwanted mailinglists \
                himself from the To: field
- give the user a choice where to send using a dialogbox
