I have a similar (same) problem as Peter Lewis.  I filter mail from 'work' into a folder called 
'work'.  I have set a 'work' identity for that folder. 
 
If I create a new email while in the work folder, I will get the proper 'work' identity but if I reply 
to email that was received in 'work', I get the default identity.  It is a pain to always have to 
change the identity before replying.  (and I don't always remember to change it.)
