Hi there! 
Ok, so orths debs are finally updated, so I could test (now using cvs20030901). 
 
And it saves the settings of the toolbar (tex position) _if_ I set it the previous time.. 
 
So for example, kmail loads up, I change to 'text under icons', close, open, its all ok.. 
if I close again without touching the settings, it reverts back to icon only.
