Summary: kmail does not shut down when there is no network
                    connection
           Product: kmail
           Version: 1.5.3
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kmail@kde.org
        ReportedBy: schnetter@uni-tuebingen.de

Version: 1.5.3 (using KDE 3.1.3)
Installed from: (testing/unstable)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.1 20030722 (Debian prerelease)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-3-686

I was using kmail while my notebook was connected to the network. I use both pop and \
imap accounts, but I have automatic checking for email ("interval checking") \
disabled. When I disconnected my notebook from the network, kmail complained that it \
had lost its network connection.

I do not know why kmail noticed this; I did not tell it to try anything over the \
network. Maybe imap folders are checked even when interval checking is disabled?

I then closed the kmail window and the popup window alerting me to the missing \
network connection. However, the popup window kept reappearing every few minutes. \
Of course, the kmail window was gone, so that there was nothing I could easily do.

kmail should stop complaining about a missing network connection. It had nothing to \
do; e.g. no imap folders contained messages that would have to be deleted on exiting \
kmail. Alternatively, it could have asked me something like "no network: really exit \
kmail without accessing the network?"

I was then able to cure the problem by issuing a "killall kmail".
