KMail 1.5.1 / KDE 3.1.1a

Just out of curiosity, when signing *and* encrypting an email with KMail 
(OpenPGP not PGP/MIME) how is it handled internally ?

Does KMail first encrypt and  then sign or vice versa ? Or does KMail 
simply invoke a standard gpg command a la "gpg -sa ..." and the order 
is left to GnuPG ?
