Even better: the spellchecker should recognize which language is currently used, 
like this: show a combo box in the tool bar that says "negotiating language" when 
the composer is opened. When some words have been typed, it switches to the 
language where spell checking has the least number of errors. 
 
Another good thing about the combo box is that it always gives feedback, unlike the 
currect status bar display. And you can always select "Don't check" in that box if 
you want. 
 
The number of languages must probably be configured somehow so that checking 
doesn't get too slow.
