Version:           1.5.1 (using KDE KDE 3.1.1a)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages
OS:          Linux

On spell check in kmail 1.5.1 got:
ISpell/Aspell could not be started. Please make sure you have ISpell or Aspell \
properly configured and in your PATH. though I have aspell installed.  I created a \
symbolic link ispell -> aspell and spell check works fine in kmail.  Seems like kmail \
is only looking for ispell and not aspell.  Based on the error, I would expect it to \
