Any comments on this patch?  Joe is my infamous 'coworker' that helped (and by 
helped, I mean wrote completely on his own) my first attempt at a patch for 
this.  I believe that we (and by we, I mean he) have addressed all the issues 
with the first run at it, as it is definetly not TOFU, and it basically does 
exactly what Zack asked for.
