The most similar bug  41105, refers to an earlier version, and was closed without \
resolution. IMV it should have been kept open pending more information.

I have configured kmail to send by smtp as I don't have a working MTA on the box \
running kmail.

The host it's supposed to connect to is my gateway, and I can connect using telnet to \
the smpt port (verified by cut & paste so as to eliminate typing errors)

The messages queued do not go, and to this point it seems to be the same as the bug I \
referred to above.

My particular complaint though is that it gives no information for me to diagnose the \
problem. What I would like to see is a transcript of the dialogue it has (or tries to \
have) with the server.
