Bugs which are present in the current stable version (i.e. KDE 3.1.x) 
shouldn't be closed as fixed just because HEAD isn't affected.

You can simply use Ctrl+LMB to select a file without opening it. But 
whatever.

This would also be my preferred solution. But this requires changes in 
KListView.
