This behaviour is new in 3.1. I have already accidentally deleted some messages due 
to this bug: While working in the message view using keyboard navigation it just 
happens that the mouse moves from the currently eslected folder to another one 
(especially on a laptop touchpad).  
 
It would be ok to just disable mouse-over-selection in the folder view (similar to the 
list view), but the best fix would be the behaviour described in the initial report.
