Yes, this should be (is!) fixed.  In the meantime, the "fix" is to simply not
move the mouse after clicking on a folder.  On a reasonably fast
machine, this shouldn't slow you down too much.  It took me a little
while, but now I very rarely get the wrong folder.  I know this isn't a
proper answer, but it should tide you by.
