Then shouldn't the bug be marked in some fashion to indicate that it won't be 
fixed. Something like WONTFIX, or INVALID, or NOTABUG. Something that more 
clearly indicates its status. Because it certainly isn't fixed by any means.

Is there a publicly available link to ta QT bug that is the cause of the 
problem?

Is the fix in qt-copy? If not, will it be? When?
How do I apply the patch listed on the bug? (please keep in mind that I'm just 
an ignorant user... with a compiler ;-) )
