Could it be, that you already used Qt-3.1 when you posted that patch? That is 
probably the reason why nobody could reproduce the problem at that time.

The actual problem appears to be QListView now resorting after every inserted 
item. My attempt to temporarily disable sorting helped but it showed a second 
problem:
QListViewItem also does now recalculate its height including its children 
quite often. Temporarily disabling repainting does not help.

I committed your patch as we basically have code freeze tomorrow and I also 
don't know at the moment how to convince Trolltech that this should be 
changed in Qt. Even then I wouldn't know if both issus get fixed in time or 
not.
