KMail either shows the HTML version or the plain text version. If it shows 
both versions for some messages then those messages are broken. You can 
configure whether HTML or plain text should be shown globally in the Security 
settings (in the configuration dialog) and you can configure it for each 
folder separately via Folder->Prefer HTML ...
