Can you provide more information as to when this behaviour happens? For 
instance, does it happen all the time? Or only in certain occasions (like, 
after a crash)? 
 
Do all old mail messages get marked new? Or some? 
 
By the way, I get no such behaviour using KMail from CVS, so if you could test 
it as well, it would help a great deal.
