Well, the problem here is always that you need to have a recent version that 
just plain works for the users and that you need to do a rewrite due to the 
architecture. It is a painful process and many people wished that kmail had a 
clean and new codebase that makes it cleaner to work on and would make the 
process of adding new features faster. Just with things like Ägypten and now 
Kroupware coming up things even get more complicated as there's just time 
lacking to do the right thing.
