Sorry but this is not support hotline for how to configure SMTP server here.

Subject: 2 Provider, outgoing message from 1 not possible ('unknown user')
From: advreg@web.de
X-KDE-Received: -62.109.117.156

Package: kmail
Version: 1.4.1 (using KDE 3.0.1 )
Severity: normal
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: 2.4.18-4GB i686
OS: Linux
OS/Compiler notes: 1) SuSE 8.0 2) the problematical Provider (Hansenet, ) uses for \
pop3 and smtp the same server (webmail.hansenet.de 3)in SuSE "Network Basic - EMail" \
I use the settings 'Permanent' (about Hansenet), 'AmaVIS', 'linux.local', 'localhost' \
and for Header from 'web.de' (the other Provider)

I'm a new KMail-user (before StarOffice 5.2) under SuSE 8.0, KDE 3.0.1. The bug:

From my 2 Providers ('web.de' and 'hansenet.de'= Mainprovider with flatrate/permanent \
dial on) I can't send any messages about Hansenet (smtp). Always appears 'Error: \
unknown user'. The incoming messages (pop3) all work. At first the outgoing part \
from Hansenet worked too (!!!), but then there was a short system failure on the part \
of Hansenet and I (not knowing about) experimented with my eMail-Settings.

Now I suppose, that some of my experiments have been remaining till now in any \
config-files of SuSE in spite of deleting them again and again about KMail-features \
and trying to get back my old (right) settings again and again, too.

Is that possible? Shall I try something directly with commands about the 'console' \
and what?

If not - finally the following information:
1) Settings in SuSE 'Network Basic - EMail' are: connection=permanent (Hansenet), \
AMaVIS activated, linux.local, localhost, Provider 'web.de' as 'Header from'

2) Important? --> Hansenet uses for pop3 and smtp the same server \
'webmail.hansenet.de' while web.de is using 'pop3.web.de' and 'smtp.web.de'

3) My KMail-Settings for Hansenet:
a) Identity = my normal eMail-address and name and (new from me as an attempt !!) the \
"special way of sending: webmail.hansenet.de' b) Network Basic: Server= \
webmail.hansenet.de, security= 'no' (to make things at first simple) and under \
'server authentication = yes/no' I tried both, unfortunately all without any success.

Many thanks /Bernd Stäglich
