<translation translator="aseigo" infallible="false">
if it comes to a point where a fork is innevitable because those maintaining
KMail in HEAD refuse upon whatever basis to accept a merge and appropriate
changes in future development style, or because the branches diverge
radically in forward vision, then a fork may be innevitable.

if such a fork does occur, it is better that the two projects have aims that
are not the same. otherwise it would simply be a duplication of efforst,
which would be the stupidist use of efforts possible. if a fork must occur,
then at least the forks should strive to accomplish different things and
thereby extend the actual options available to users rather than offer them
more of the same but with a different face.

in other words, this becomes a way to make the most out of duplicated efforts
and provides users with tangible benefits (variety) even in the worst case
scenario.

if you're wondering where i got the above translation, it is a combination of:

o my desire to shape this into a Good Thing, despite those most intimately
involved

o understanding the context and not allowing myself to pick on specifics out
of context

o private email i've had with various people on the topic

i don't think anyone would LIKE to have a fork. if it become absolutely
necessary, though, you will discover that some people are willing to support
it.
